A workcamp is a place, where people from different nationalities, ideologies and religions live and work together as volunteers for a period of two to four weeks. The projects are organized with local Partners and non-profit organizations. The workcamps usually take place during the summer, but there are spring and winter projects as well. The number of participants in each workcamp ranges from 5 to 20, depending on the type of the project. Projects fall into three broad categories: physical work, such as building, planting and restoration; social work, often with children or people with handicaps; or work/study, where work and learning opportunities are integrated. During the workcamp you communicate and work with local people, you can get acquainted with their culture and habits. Through inter-cultural volunteer work, you have the chance to promote tolerance and peace worldwide. This is the main idea behind workcamps, and it works well!

some useful information:

All the volunteers reach the place of the workcamp themselves. One month before beginning of the camp CVS-BG will send you a detailed information about the workcamp, called 'Infosheet'. The most important topics of the Infosheet are:
* Description of the project
* The working time in every workcamp is usually 6 hours per day. In the evening you will have free time or interesting group games. As you are volunteers, there is no pay for the work.
* Free time - different possibilities in the area around, excursions to the interesting places etc. You also have two free days each week during the workcamp.
* Accommodation - conditions of the place (wc, hot water, tents, sleeping bags, etc.)
* Food - usually in the workcamp volunteers prepare the food themselves. At the beginning of the camp the group together makes a time schedule about the cooking. Everybody has the chance to prepare a traditional dish from his or her country.
* What to bring - clothes, tools, music, etc.
* How to get to the place
* Meeting point and phone numbers for contacts
